BEL AIR HOSPITAL, Panchgani

Panchgani – Mahableshwar is the most famous hill resort in Maharashtra.  Panchgani also is an educational centre with many international schools.  With the establishment of Satara – Solapur Mission, Panchagani became a Mass centre in 1993.  In the same year we bought some land there for the purpose of establishing a house and a retreat centre.  Meanwhile we came into contact with Indian Red Cross Society, which had the Bel-Air Hospital in a 44 acre campus in Panchgani.  In 1994 MCBS took up the administration of Bel-Air Hospital, which was at the verge of a closure due to various problems.  A concerted effort of MCBS and Red Cross has brought back the glorious past of Bel-Air.  It is a major health care project in the country and the biggest centre of HIV/AIDS care and treatment in India.  Currently Bel-Air is a multi speciality 240 bedded general hospital and runs a college of nursing with the collaboration of the University of Illinois at Chicago (USA) which is the first nursing programme in India with an American University Collaboration.  Bel-Air is also a training centre for Doctors and Nurses in HIV approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. Bel-Air Hospital was awarded the Times of India Healthcare Achievers Award 2014 in the category of “Innovation in managing long term condition”. The College was also awarded the Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge Initiative Grant along with the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), by US India Education Foundation.
