History
Emmaus Region was erected on May 4, 1995 and, later, it was elevated to a Province on December 2, 1996 with the name MCBS Emmaus Province. The administration of the region and of the province was carried out from the Novitiate House, Kanjirappally, till 1999. A new building for the provincial house was built at Kaduvakulam in the same compound as the Mother House and was blessed by His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil in the presence of Mar Thomas Elavanal, Bishop of Kalyan, on 30th December, 1999 at the dawn of the 3rd Millennium. At the time of the erection of the province, the area of operation specifically assigned to Emmaus Province include the Archdioceses of Ernakulam – Angamaly and Changanaserry, the Satara – Solapur Mission in Kalyan Diocese, Rajastan Mission in Ajmeer-Jaipur Diocese, and Tamil Nadu Mission (Sengottai) in Thuckalay Diocese. The Divyhrudayashram at Chennaippara, the Head Quarters of FBA Ministry, was also entrusted to Emmaus Province. By the resurvey in 2001, the property of the MCBS Emmaus Province at Kaduvakulam and property of the Parish Church were divided and arrived at a settlement according to the original document and a new agreement. A vault cemetery was built with due legal permission from civil authorities in 2002. Later the mission territories were extended to Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Africa and Brazil. His Grace Mar Joseph Perumthottam, Archbishop of Changanaserry consecrated the new chapel of MCBS Emmaus Provincial House on 20th March 2015. The renovation of the Provincial house with a new chapter hall, auditorium and dormitory was done in 2015.
